Splash! I plunge deep into creating while gripping a watercolor brush in one hand and a ballpoint pen in the other. Paint colors blend, mix, and dry ready to tell half the picture book story. I hope to grow young as an old-soul creator of books and illustrations. Living in the country is inspirational. The hills are wild with birds, deer, turkeys, bees, walking sticks, butterflies, bats, snakes, spiders, a praying mantis or two or three or four, rabbits, turtles, daddy longlegs, and lots of colorful flowers.
The balance of art and story is thrilling when writing picture books. Then, when engaged in picture-less prose, I simply close my lids and let my mind's eye take over navigating a vast and loyal imagination.
