Biography
About Lisa Anne Cullen
“Tis the drab leaves, stems, and roots from which the vibrant flower blooms.”
It all starts with an idea or a feeling. It's fluid. Inspiration germinates day and night, night and day. Art sprouts, grows, and blossoms in many forms. Paintings, prose, poetry, photography, and woodwork are what I most love to produce being a creative. Illustrating music, stories, and poetry is a luxurious endeavor in all artistic respects, digging deep. To be an artist is to brave the darkness in exploration of gifts buried deep inside a vivid imagination and curious mind.
I am grateful to those individuals and organizations who inspire artists and support the arts. I am forever thankful to many loving souls and heroes who have helped me grow in all aspects of teaching, writing, and creating art. Learning from others fills my artistic heart. Working with artists and authors of all ages is an honor I cherish as part of a beautiful and creative life.
Connected Collage artistry is a watercolor process using hand-painted color boards and hand-drawn, cut, and torn elements. Then piece-by-piece, I combine and layer these colorful elements, including various other materials, to produce the finished artwork. I've been working in this style of art for years and coined the term "Connected Collage." I am grateful to Mr. Schermerhorn, my beloved high school art teacher, for encouraging me to blossom and grow as an artist so long ago.
